Smyrna Police detectives are continuing to investigate an early morning shooting. On Sunday 8/29/21 at approximately 1:05 am, officers were alerted to a victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the unit block of Howard St. Responding officers located a 30-year-old female victim with an apparent gunshot wound to her upper extremity. Witnesses on scene were uncooperative. It is believed that the victim was shot during a struggle over a firearm with a currently unknown suspect. The victim has since been treated and released for her wound at Bayhealth Dover. Detectives are continuing to investigate this matter and encourage anyone with information to contact Det.
